Dr. Mary Kardasz, Ph.D, LPC, LMFT
Marital and Family Therapist
Dr. Kardasz is a Licensed Individual and Family Therapist. She has worked closely with couples for over twenty years offering pre-marital and marital counseling. She counsels couples who are facing life’s most difficult issues such as: financial, sexual, in-laws, infertility, and infidelity. She spent over six years at St. Louis University in their Marital and Family Program. Her second state Licensure is as a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist. She also provides a structured three to six month program which allows couples to explore important issues before committing to marriage. This has been a highly successful program and one that Dr. Kardasz enjoys very much.
Eating Disorder ExpertPrior to Doctorate Induction, Dr. Kardasz began working with compulsive overeaters, bulimics, and anorexics. She has high success rates and works with clients of all ages. Her work with Eating Disorders led to working with clients who have suffered severe traumas such as: shock, death, war, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other rare traumas. She also works closely with individuals suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Teen IssuesOver twenty-five years ago, Dr. Kardasz began her career working with troubled teens in High Schools. Since that time, she works with ten or more high school and college aged individuals each week. She strongly believes that no teen should go without the guidance and care of a knowledgeable adult. She realizes that individuals between the ages of 13 to 22 struggle with listening to their parents. Because the divorce rate is high, teens are often subjected to blended families and do not want to burden their distressed parents with their problems. In situations like these, teens need a safe place and person to talk to who respects their feelings and those of their parents.
Adult IssuesDr. Kardasz has more than twenty years of experience working with adults struggling with issues such as: depression, anxiety, grief and mood disorders. Dr. Kardasz has run Anxiety and Depression groups for over ten years. She works with the client in dealing with any type of life stressors such as; workplace and family issues. She also seeks to increase self awareness and empower the client in dealing with their life and family issues.
